In 2007, a team of 12 adults spent four days at the "Link Church" and were graciously hosted and served by members of the church and a unique spiritual bond was formed that is still talked among the members of the Calvary team. We experienced suck a beautiful spirit of unity and love among the two churches.
We are honored that we will join with the "Link Church" once again. They will be housing our team as well as allowing us to minister alongside with them for an entire week. Our team will be assisting them with a "Holiday Club" (Vacation Bible School) as well as helping them again with minor construction in their building. The Calvary team will also be going into the marketplace in Dunfermline for evangelism.
We are hoping to visit Eikon in Edinburgh, the new church plant that Calvary assisted in planting both financially, but also prayerfully and sending a work crew in 07. We have heard great reports of this church's growth and impact in community.
The coordination of this trip is taking place through our missionary friend, Michael McNamee. What a joy it will be to allow our team to be infected with the spirit of Michael. Personally, this will be my fifth missions trip with Michael. What a privilege it is for me to have this connection with such a hero of the church.
Why does a church encourage and allow missions when there are so many needs back home? Though we never want to neglect our "Jerusalem" (and we don't) in order to become a world Christian, it is important to expose Americans to the unique culture and needs of the world. Not only does this help build and strengthen an individual's Christian worldview, but it reinforces The Great Commission in a person's heart and life. One of my favorite sayings is, "There is nothing like a missions trip." As a leader of many trips, it is rewarding to observe team members experience the unique and divine appointments that God always arranges for them.
Please pray for our team and come to the blog often to find out great moments our team will be experiencing. Thank you to Calvary for your ongoing support. You are a great church!
